Waste Water Superintendent

The City of Marshfield, MO is accepting applications for the full-time position of Waste Water Superintendent.  Marshfield has a population of approximately 6,700 and is located in Southwest Missouri.  The City has been experiencing growth due to its location on I-44 with close proximity to the Springfield metropolitan area.  Marshfield is also located within an hour drive of four lakes in the Ozark region of Missouri which provides an abundance of outdoor recreational opportunities.  The City is also working with the Missouri Department of Transportation on design for a second interchange on I-44, which is anticipated to open in December 2020.  It is further anticipated that the opening of the second interchange will spur additional residential and commercial development thereby increasing Marshfield’s rate of growth.

This position reports to the Deputy City Administrator. This position is responsible for overseeing the six-person department that is responsible for all planning and operations of the City’s Waste Water collection system and treatment plant as well as maintaining compliance with all applicable state and federal standards.

Preferred qualifications: knowledge and experience with Waste Water Treatment plants; maintenance; budgeting preparation and administration; future growth and planning; accounting; purchasing; coordination; reports; communications; scheduling; training; personnel management; safety programs; affirmative action; and familiar with laws and regulations dealing with waste water laws, policies and procedures of the State of Missouri and the federal government.  

The ideal candidate will be a self-starter and have demonstrated organizational, budgetary, customer service, team building, and time management skills. In addition to interacting on a daily basis with co-workers and subordinates, this position will frequently interact with the general public and Board of Aldermen.  Therefore, strong verbal and written communication skills are necessary.

Candidates must have a minimum of 5 years Waste Water Treatment Experience and hold a Missouri Class A Waste Water Treatment License (a class B Waste Water Treatment License will be considered, but a Class A must be obtained within the first 6 months of employment).

The salary range for the position is $37,476 to $48,423. The starting salary will be commensurate with education and experience.  The City of Marshfield provides an excellent benefit package that includes L-6 LAGERS retirement, Medical and Life Insurance benefits.

Hartley Park

Hartley Park, located at 325 N. Clay, is a neighborhood park that sits on one-half acre of land and contains a swing set, slide, monkey bars and teeter totters. Also, includes a grill and gazebo built by a boy scout seeking his Eagle Scout award.

There is a cemetery plot located near the park that is recognized by the Historical Society  as a resting place for some of the original white settlers of this area.
